Help A Writer Out?

Years ago, I played with Craig Whitney's kids.

He and my dad were both foreign correspondents in Moscow in the 1970s, and when our two families went on vacation to Sicily, he took me snorkeling in the Med every day.

Craig spent years at the NYT, and now he's writing a book about the Second Amendment, gun control and the NRA. He's an NRA member, and a Navy vet. He's good people.

He's looking to talk to gun collectors and shooters about shooting, gun control and what, if any gun control laws are reasonable in the minds of American firearm owners.

If you'd like to talk to him and let him know what you think about the issues, let me know in the comments and I'll get his email address to you.

Here's a gun law proposal for you. How about, the U.S. military shall not field any small-arms or other man-portable gear, that are not available for sale, without restriction on ownership, transfer, possession, transport, or lawful use, by the citizenry of the U.S.; and without a tax greater in percentage than the average tax on all other goods available to the U.S. citizenry, exempting alcohol and tobacco? Hey, it even throws a bone to the nuclear disarm people. No Davy Crocketts unless they're available for sale in gun shops. (Of course, why you'd WANT a nuclear rocket propelled GRENADE in the FIRST place...)

Actually, I'd go a little farther. I'd say U.S. military and all other forces maintained or contracted by the U.S. government or any lesser government under its jurisdiction. No letting the LAPD, Chicago PD, or even FBI field the big stuff either.
