What? The? Eff?

Powerline writes:

Last week the British Embassy announced that British, French and American troops would march with Russian soldiers on Red Square to mark the 65th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany. The Brits said in a statement that the parade may mark the first time British troops have marched in Red Square; I believe the same observation applies to the American troops that will join the parade.

Marching with a regime that serves Polonium milkshakes to its detractors? In Red Square? I wonder if we'll be allowed to carry our own flag - wouldn't want to offend anyone.

This is turning out to be far worse than even I imagined.

Seriously, at this point, anyone who still wonders whether Obama even likes America, let alone loves it, needs to have their meds checked.

The decision not to fly the flag is an embarrassment of weakness on the part of Obama.

Is Crazy the New Normal?

Yesterday we had a fun trip to Vegan-Land where meat is verboten, leather is for losers, and domesticated animals are anathema -- except for the pet cats.

Today, lets go to Albanian Conspiracy-Ville. (I don't have a link to share, so you're going to have to trust me on this.)

Background: My wife teaches English as a Second Language at a community college, and this week she's doing a fairly innocuous unit on cross cultural communication, cultural relativism etc.

To spice things up, she showed a video interview with Michael Scheuer, formerly the head of the CIA's Bin Laden/Al Qaeda unit, in which he talks about AQ's part in what he calls a worldwide Islamic insurgency. Powerful stuff and a pretty good illustration of clashing cultures.

Today's Abomination: During the video, one of the Albanians in the class took issue with Scheuer, calling the interview "propaganda," and denying (wait for it... wait for it...) that Osama Bin Laden had anything at all to do with the 9/11 attacks -- or any other attacks for that matter.

According to this guy, Sheikh Osama is a victim of a US conspiracy, and has remained alone and bereft on his mountaintop, uninvolved in any violent acts.

Analysis: Crazy, huh? Just shows that anything you happen to consider a capital-F, plutonium-cored, gold-plated, 24-carat, Imperial Grand Champion Fact is probably considered rank nonsense by somebody else.

Dumber Than A Sack of Hammers

If you were running the ACLU and one of your employees changed his name to Adolf Hitler JewHater Goebbels, would that set off any alarm bells?

Well if the ACLU was run like the US Navy, apparently not.

Today we read that Navy Signalman Paul Hall was sentenced to 10 years in jail for passing information about the movements of his ship to an extremist Islamic group. Apparently he was hoping to help them recreate the attack on the USS Cole, as his ship, the USS Benfold moved through the Straits of Hormuz.

Thing is, Hall had changed his name to Hassan Abu-Jihaad which means 'father of Jihaad" in 1995, before enlisting in the navy. If this jackass had been unlucky enough to have been born into the Jihaad family, that would be one thing. But this guy deliberately on purpose changes his name to Hassan Abu-Jihaad and nobody cares when he fills out the recruiting form?

Maybe they felt that investigating a muslim guy who changes his name to Father of Battle was unfairly profiling him.

And they may be right. Still, I suggest that a quick search of the Defense Department records to see if anyone named "jihad" "intifadeh" "holy fire of allah" or "al-aqsa martyr" has been put in charge of the nuclear stockpile or maybe flying Air Force One around.

Did He Just Say What I Think He Said?

Did the new attorney general of the United States just call me a coward?

Well, fuck Eric Holder and the affirmative action guilt carpet he rode in on.

Rummy got curb-stomped in the press and by lefties (same thing really) for making a distinction between Old Europe and New Europe, but he never called them cowards. Now we have a senior official pissing on the heads of the very people that helped get him where he is today. Is anyone going to make a stink about this one?
