You are probably the only person in the internet who gets the reference to "John Thomas".
:) Back when Heinlein was writing his juveniles for boys, his publisher was always on his ass about improprieties and mores (it was the 50s after all) and had been really frustrating him, so he named the character John Thomas. And used the name. A LOT. :)
