Not really... but this was almost as bad. I had this nightmare that my carry gun was a revolver with a 3-inch barrel. Chambered in .454 Casull.
And I was carrying it in crappy little nylon holster with one of those clips that you tuck into your pants. And I was wearing sweatpants. No belt.

Last night I dreamed I was back in Ann Arbor and there was a blackout affecting my various evening's activities. That's it, no crises, no chases, no nothing, just dealing with a blacked-out college town. Weird way to fire off some neurons...
libertyman here, hmmmm that sounds like it may have been influenced by a certain Ruger Alaskan that fits the description from the Bloggershoot. By the way, I have ordered a Garand from CMP , inspired by the one you brought to the shoot!
Hi Libertyman,
I think it was indeed influenced by the Ruger Alaskan. I was regretting not shooting it. Nice work on the Garand. What did you order??
I ordered the Springfield special, with the new stock and barrel. I have wanted a Springfield made Garand, and they did a beautiful job with yours. Thank you for the referral, as I always seem to check CMP when they don't have anything at the time. I would have gladly lent the Alaskan to any and all -- it is not punishing to shoot -- at least with less than 300 grain bullets. I have found it surprisingly accurate, as well. By the way, I am not sure how to log in at your site as libertyman, hence the anonymous tag.
Hey Libertyman,
They may make you wait for your new Garand, but I think you'll be happy in the long run. I sent my order in on about Feb 17 this year, and they didn't even send me the acknowledgment email until mid-March. I actually got the rifle around the end of May, which is on the fast side, I think.
The CMP forum is great, and they have a great community of helpful guys who know a ton about the Garand and how the CMP works. People post the dates that they ordered and when they get the various emails from the CMP e-store, and that will help give you a sense of where they are in their gigantic list of orders.
As to logging in, I think you need to use the little dropdown menu to select the account that you want to use -- Google, Live Journal, TypePad, etc...
Next time we have a bloggershoot, I'll have to take a turn with the Alaskan. I think I was a little dizzy and not thinking straight after seeing the fireballs and thunderclap concussions coming out of the Mosin Nagant....
Better than the dream I had a while back. Got into a shootout and my .45 ran dry, and rather than pulling a spare mag (which I guess I didn't have) I pulled my backup piece....a Colt .25 ACP.
At least a .454 Snubbie has some stopping power. .25 ACP has less penetration that most .22 LR ammo!
I'd have awakened drenched in cold sweat.
