Secretary of Hate?

By now you have probably all heard the rumors that Hillary Clinton may be Secretary of State for the incoming Obama Administration.

Given that Obama told the voters repeatedly that this war was a mistake, and he opposed it from the start, it's a little baffling that this spot could go to someone who voted in favor.

Even more astonishing, according to the book Her Way, by New York Times reporters Jeff Gerth and Don Van Natta, Jr., Hillary did not read the 90-page classified National Intelligence Estimate on the situation before she voted.

In spite of pleas to read the thing from Bob Graham, the head of the Intelligence Committee at the time, she didn't even have someone on her staff cleared to read it and report to her.

Take a moment to savor that. When was the last time you got to read a highly classified document, and then help decide if the US was about to go to war? I'd put that high on my list of things to do.

Given the gravity of the decision, can you imagine NOT reading the thing? Hillary may be a lot of things, but stupid is not one of them. What on earth could her reasons be, assuming the allegation in this book is true?

I'm going to be a little disappointed if she ends up at the State Department, because I was hoping to see Bill Richardson, who seems like a very steady fellow, get the slot.

On the other hand, if Hillary gets the job, that gaping oaf John Kerry and his plastic hair won't. And that has to be a Good Thing.

UPDATE: Christopher Hitchens, appearing on Hardball the other night, called Hillary Clinton's possible appointment as Secretary of State a "ludicrous embarrassment." "This is the woman who played the race card on Obama," he continued. " This is the woman whose foreign policy experience consists of making a fool of herself and fabricating a story about Bosnia."

I sure hope Hitchens never comes after me.

I am a Richardson fan and hope it's him as well...
John Kerry is such a douche.

I had a dream Joe Biden was trying to assume my mortgage payments from me last night. No clue what that one means.
